Used car (MINI Cooper®) remodeled front bumper and digital prints

Through Iron Sky, the artist and his father (a skilled car mechanic) converted abandoned old vehicles to revive their value. The artist and his father invented a playful new furniture form, “car sofas,” that they then introduced into their domestic spaces. This work memorializes the tail end of traditional industries like the artist’s family’s auto-repair business while also reflecting on the patchwork coexistence of new and old industrial landscapes in Taiwan.
我的作品自2011年開始自我尋訪式創作，他回到現代生活中被邊緣化的家族事業：汽車修護裡，尋找記憶、表述與更新的可能。將廢棄的古董車輛的回收，引導父親在保有基本條件下，轉換其功能與價值上的可能性。最終，選擇一個具有特殊族群識別性的形式：汽車沙發，將之拉皮改造後使它重新回到日常生活空間裡。作品一方面希望記憶著傳統產業僅有的餘暉，一方面也映射著當今台灣新舊並存的產業地景。
